Where did this data come from?

River height data is provided by remote monitoring stations that automatically collect river height and other data. This is used by many services including the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) and play an essential role in the monitoring, predicting and coordinating responses to weather events like occured in October 2022.

Due to their often isolated locations and proximity to the bodies of water they monitor, the stations do not always survive the floods.
